Building a Network of Leaders for the REALTOR® Organization

Each year, there are several positions open for new and emerging leadership in the REALTOR® Assocation and the MLS. You simply need to step up to the plate and volunteer for service in the areas for which you have a special interest or talent. The President and nominating committees will evaluate the positions open and will match the volunteers with the position best suited, if at all possible.

Please remember – it doesn't matter when you chose to submit your nomination – each nomination is forwarded to the appropriate committee when selections are considered. There is no need to wait to volunteer yourself for office!

The Board is also always seeking talented REALTORS for committee service, a critical role in our association. There are many different topics and types of committee service, and you are encouraged to read each committee description to find the one that best suits your time and interests. Many REALTORS enjoy committee service so much that they volunteer and serve on more than one committee at a time. We welcome your involvement in whatever capacity to chose to give. Thank you!

The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program kicks off each September with a mandatory two-day retreat, followed by nine weekly, four-hour evening sessions that focus on specific topic areas. The retreat, facilitated by professionals, include aspects of leadership, problem solving techniques and networking. The Berkshire Leadership Program sessions are held at sites throughout the Berkshires and give participants the opportunity to interact with community leaders.

The program closes with a mandatory dinner and commencement event. Follow up project assignments and periodic get-togethers throughout the year are also planned. The MAR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY is a powerful and rewarding learning experience designed to develop leadership and life skills that benefit your business! The program combines individual study, group sessions, team-building, goal setting, personal profile analyses and more. This year-long learning experience is designed to train, nurture and inspire tomorrow’s leaders. Do you have what it takes to be a leader?

The MAR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY Selection Committee will include corporate and private sector leadership experts, as well as past and current leaders of the REALTOR® organization. The Selection Committee will review applications and interview prospective participants. Interviews will be conducted during the month of January; all applicants will be notified of their selection status by January 31st; tuition payment-in-full is due by February 28. A maximum of 15 individuals will be selected to participate in the program.

Tuition for the program is $725 – an all-inclusive fee – (includes all training sessions, all meals, all overnight accommodations and instructional materials for the entire year’s sessions.) Additional costs to the participants will include transportation to and from the meeting site, and minimal expenses which may be incurred during the field exercise phase of the program. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® Leadership Academy

Introducing NAR's NEW Leadership Academy, designed to take local and state volunteer leaders to the next level in their leadership path. Hone in on your leadership skills and maximize your leadership potential. The NAR Leadership Academy is a nine-month, five-state training and development program that is structured around national meetings, designed to groom future NAR leaders.

REALTOR® members who are interested in pursuing leadership opportunities at the national level, but have not yet been actively involved in leadership positions, should apply. Applicants must have some formal leadership training experience either through a local or state REALTOR® association or another program such as a military or community leadership program. Consideration will also be given to applicants who demonstrate an ability to contribute to diversity based on age, gender, ethnicity, geography, specialty, etc.

Applicants that are selected for inclusion in the program must make a financial and time commitment. Participants are also expected to pay for their own travel expenses to attend the sessions in conjunction with the REALTORS® Conference and Expo and the Midyear Meetings. NAR covers costs for all course materials, and hotel or hotel and airfare expenses for other off-cycle meetings. Participants are expected to complete a class project and various assigned readings.
